One of the biggest challenges that companies have is to achieve success through competitiveness and thus prevail over other companies, guaranteeing an important participation in the market.
In this achievement, different key activities of the organization are involved, among them, warehouse management stands out, which is a logistics function that deals with the reception, storage and movement within the point of origin to the point of consumption. It is necessary to understand that warehouse management has become one of the important aspects in the commercial sector, as relevant as the facilities, the quality of the product/service, the personnel, among others. Proper management has a positive impact on aspects such as customer satisfaction, increased efficiency, reduction of economic and physical losses, continuity of the operation, which generates an increase in productivity in the organization.
At Inael Electrical Systems we have transformed our central warehouse. For a few months now, our new logistics center has been operating in a different way than it usually did, improving, above all, in times that have an impact on productivity.
Mainly, the warehouse becomes a section controlled exclusively by the personnel of said area. In this way, we have gained reliability, since only material managed by the workers in this area enters or leaves the warehouse.
A new storage procedure has been established and implemented. Previously, a hole was a location where material was stacked, now that hole becomes several locations where different references are never stacked, that is, it is stacked by reference.
System information has been improved, providing all warehouse personnel with digital media to feed it, and thus know the specific material needs in real time.
We continue working on a day-to-day basis and we are improving that continuity. The procedure already works perfectly in the pre-assembly chain for cubicles and switches, the so-called “us”, and when the new final assembly line is fully installed in the factory, scheduled for the end of summer, the same method will be replicated, as well as in the rest of the sections of other products or manufacturing processes.
