INAEL receives official approval from Iberdrola and Endesa for its new avifauna surge arresters

The avifauna polymeric surge arresters designed by Inael Electrical Systems have received official approval from two electricity companies. The CS70YB30AV surge arrester has been approved by Iberdrola and the CS70AB30AV by Endesa.

These surge arresters are specially designed for rigidly fastening conductors to the supports of medium-voltage power lines. They are characterised by their high resistance to bending and their large creepage distance, pollution level III according to IEC 60 815, which makes them ideal for locations with high pollution or high stress requirements. The surge arresters are equipped with stamped and hot-dip galvanised fittings.

The new avifauna polymeric surge arresters are the ideal solution to one of the biggest problems we encounter today, the electrocution of birds.

“We have a wide range of polymeric surge arresters depending on the customer’s requirements, adapted to the needs of each company. In addition, we use a type of silicone specially designed to prevent attacks by corvids. On the other hand, it is worth highlighting the exceptional hydrophobic capacity to avoid the accumulation of humidity and therefore the guarantee of an adequate response in environments with water or snow” explains Iván Valbuena, Director of Engineering and Laboratory at Inael.
