SECTIONALISING LINKS

The INAEL Automatic Sectionalising Link constitutes a radical revolution, in the field of the protection of derivations and branches in overhead distribution electrical systems. It is a completely self-contained device designed for use with breakers or auto-reclosers.

Recent statistical studies, which shown that, approximately, the 90% of the melting on expulsion fuses placed on overhead lines, they happen in answer to transitory shortcircuit, like electric storms, contacts with branches of trees, etc. Also, It is well know that the cost in manpower for each replacement of the melting fuse could be similar to the cost of a new Cut-Out.

The automatic sectionalisers INAEL provides an economic solution to this problem, assuring the effective isolating of a derivation, in the case of a local permanent fault, staying inert in the face of transitory currents, that how we said, they take place, approximately in the 90% of the occasions.

POLYMERIC HOUSING SURGE ARRESTERS

The INZP arrester offers all the advantages of a metal oxide distribution arrester in light-weight, low profile polymeric housing designed for either indoor or outdoor overhead aplications. The polymeric housing eliminates the problem of chipped ro cracked porcelain that can occur with rough handling or shipping. Reduced weigh is ideal for easy installation. The INZP is approximately 1.5 kg lighter than is INZ arrester porcelain equivalent for the 10 kV rating and 3.8 for the 27 kV rating.The failure mode of the INZP arrester is less severe than that of porcelain housed units. When violent failure mode of porcelain housed arresters occurs, it does so when the internal arc from excessive fault current causes thermal fracture of the porcelain housing and the hot gases created by the arc explodes the porcelain fragments in all directions. The INZP with its polymer housing, will split open suring failure conditions to relieve the internal pressure.

INAEL produces, in its FACTORY in SPAIN , the equipment for the Electrical Distribution SF6 Switchgear.

These Metal Enclosed Switchgears are composed of premanufactured cells under a metallic housing isolated with sulphur hexafluoride, SF6. The whole ensemble is made up of a modular system in which the modules may be connected in parallel, making the combination more appropiate to the needs of the customer and a compact system.

The special features of the systems are the following:
- The modular cells may be extensible on one or both sides.
- The compact cells, at the request of the customer, may also be extensible on or both sides.

The expulsion CUT-OUT Fuses made by INAEL are single pole devices for vertical crossarm or pole mounting, specially designed to work in outdoor areas, to provide protection in overhead distribution systems for voltage rating from 6 kV throught 36 kV.

All INAEL CUT-OUT are provided with hooks for fixing the "on load break stick" in parallel with the fuseholder. To assure a permanent contact of the fuseholder, during the making operation, a witty guide system is provided in the lower hinge that gradually reduces the upper contact balancing. This system enables to expedite the making operation, that can be practically done from any angle.

In year 2000 INAEL commenced an elaborate technological project: the design, development and construction of the first (and sole) ceramic semiconductor manufacturing plant in Spain. In particular, INAEL decided to develop a product range focused around a very specific electronic component: zinc-oxide varitors. These components constitute the basic active part of any surge protection device, i.e., any device protecting electronic or electrical equipment against surge overvoltages at all levels (from 1-2 V electronic PCBs to 1MV+ power transmission lines). The associated technology encompasses from fundamental materials science until automation of complex quality-control testing systems. These technology was developed altogether with a team of scientists from the Spanish High Council of scientific Research, and gave rise to more than four PhD Thesis, among them that one from current INAEL’s Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Daniel Fernández Hevia.

DISCONNECTORS

In all outdoor apparatus the ferreous parts are hot dip galvanized to applicable standard for long service life.
Indoor´s ones are rust protected by an electrolytic zinc coating of 20 µm thickness. Jointing of the metallic parts of the insulators is achieved by an elastic cement that absorbs the expansion coefficient variation of the different materials.

The robust construction, easy assembly, the galvanic couple absence and the accurate control during their manufacture process warrants a long life without any maintenance operation.
